In this chapter, we argue that differences in problem-solving experiences can be traced to the activation of brain structures involved unconscious processing information (what refer as "the backstage"). Scientists commonly distinguish between two major types experiences: via insight and analysis. Three properties are often mentioned when describing how solutions differ from analytic solutions: (1) Solvers unable report much leads solution which comes mind an off–on manner; (2) experience their together with a feeling pleasure reward; (3) Solutions feel correct they actually are. This is captured by distinctive response: Aha! chapter focuses on these three argues processes important for general, but especially because most happens below awareness. It also positive affect associated serves adaptive function.

Anatomical depiction is a technique whereby the product decomposed into components that are spatially arranged layer by to visually explicate its inner structure. The authors demonstrate anatomical depiction, compared with nonanatomical enhances valuation. This effect occurs because elicits “coming together” of in consumers’ minds, thereby evoking gestalt image product—a process labeled “simulated assemblage.” elicitation simulated assemblage turn boosts confidence product's performance. Two field experiments leads greater engagement online settings such as peer-to-peer selling and social media advertising. Subsequently, seven laboratory show when how (Studies 1a–c), test underlying on valuation 2a–b), delineate two boundary conditions, showing positive (vs. nonanatomical) attenuates for consumers higher lower) technology anxiety (Study 3) have hedonic utilitarian) consumption goal 4). Collectively, this work provides insights firms use enhance product.

ABSTRACT Creativity is a cornerstone of human evolution and typically defined as the multifaceted ability to produce novel useful artifacts. Although much research has focused on divergent thinking, growing evidence underscores importance perceptual processing in fostering creativity, particularly through flexibility. The present work aims offer framework that relates creativity perception, showing how sensory affordances, especially ambiguous stimuli, can contribute generation ideas. In doing so, we contextualize phenomenon pareidolia, which involves seeing familiar patterns noisy or key mechanism idea generation—one central stages creative process. We introduce “divergent perception” describe process by individuals actively engage with affordances provided information, illustrate this concept could account for heightened observed psychedelic psychotic states. Moreover, explore perception cognitive mechanisms crucial focusing role attention. Finally, discuss future paths exploration including targeted manipulation stimulus characteristics investigation intricate interplay between bottom‐up top‐down processes.
