Background: Hallux valgus (HV) is one of the most common foot deformities and negatively impacts plantar support. The abductor hallucis (AH) important muscle in etiopathogenesis hallux valgus, but effectiveness its rehabilitation clashes with difficulty identifying suitable exercises to activate it. Therefore, aim this study was compare four different therapeutic activation AH these patients. Methods: In observational case–control study, 48 patients suffering from moderate/severe grade, according traditional radiographic classification Manchester scale, were divided into two groups: case group underwent a monthly protocol for their deformity, whereas control only evaluated without any intervention. as follows: Toe Spread Out (TSO), Short Foot (SF), Forefoot Adduction (FA), Flexion Metatarsophalanges (FM). Both groups analyzed at baseline 1 month later (at end group) while performing mentioned using surface electromyograph (sEMG) record activity terms Root Mean Square (RMS) Maximum Voluntary Contraction (MVC). Results: FA exercise determine statistically significant improvement cycle, both RMS (p = 0.015) MVC < 0.0001), other did not produce change comparison between times or related interaction. Conclusions: seems be best train AH, so programs should consider starting point improving support, always considering specific characteristics HV. Further studies are needed deepen exercise, implementing strategies rethinking HV therapies, which currently predominantly surgical.
