The article presents the spatial-functional transformations of a medium-sized post-industrial city in context decline industrial function which used to occupy prominent position city. research attempts answer following questions: (1) What has been reflected spatial and functional development its landscape by dynamic sector that have taken place since 1970s, playing out broad specific political socio-economic conditions? (2) how is dealing with sites—are we ‘post-industrial scar’ or process their adaptation needs present? Analyses were initiated identify differences structure from 1966 present. To this end, land cover analysis was carried based on available sets aerial photographs four selected years within study period, as well calculation index variation. Graphical GIS software (QGIS 3.28.4 version) methods statistical data used. come up full picture second half 20th century, an outline historical Gorlice local oil engineering industry presented. results confirm relationship between transformation condition function.

Land Use and Cover Change (LUCC) represents the interaction between human societies natural environment. Studies of LUCC simulation allow for analysis (LULC) patterns in a given region. Moreover, these studies enable complex future scenarios by integrating multiple factors. Such can provide effective means optimizing making decisions about This review conducted literature search on geographic models simulations Web Science database. From literature, we summarized basic steps spatiotemporal dynamic LUCC. The focus was current major models, analyzing their characteristics limitations, discussing expanded applications land use. reveals that research still faces challenges such as data uncertainty, necessitating advancement more diverse new technologies. Future enhance precision applicability improving methods, big multi-scale data, employing multi-model coupling various algorithmic experiments comparison. would support use to higher levels.

Abstract Exploring LULC change is essential for the sustainable development of ecologically fragile areas. This study based on transfer matrix and land use dynamicity, combined with data meteorological LP from 1980 to 2020, explore spatio-temporal characteristics its response climate in LP. The results indicated that overall was characterized by a decrease area cropland, grassland bare land, an increase woodland build-up trend had obvious stage around 2000. 2000 2020 more drastic than comprehensive utilization degree increases. impacts human activities LUCC Loess Plateau have regional differences. In southeast agricultural region, mainly affected activities, spatial distribution types constantly adjusted population growth economic development. central project returning cropland has great impact LULC. northwest arid vegetation sensitive temperature precipitation, significantly higher humid region.

Purpose This study aims to quantify and analyse the dynamics of land use cover (LULC) changes over three decades in rapidly urbanizing city Abha, Saudi Arabia, assess urban growth using Morphological Spatial Pattern Analysis (MSPA). Design/methodology/approach Using Support Vector Machine (SVM) classification Google Earth Engine, Abha between 1990 2020 are accurately assessed. method leverages cloud computing enhance efficiency accuracy big data analysis. Additionally, MSPA was employed Colab patterns. Findings The demonstrates significant expansion areas growing from 62.46 km² 271.45 2020, while aquatic habitats decreased 1.36 0.52 km². revealed a notable increase core 41.66 2001 194.97 2021, showcasing nuanced sprawl densification. Originality/value novelty this lies its integrated approach, combining LULC analyses within framework capture environment. insights poised influence policy planning decisions, particularly fostering sustainable environments that accommodate preserving natural habitats. approach is crucial for devising strategies can adapt mitigate environmental impacts expansion.

Urbanization is an inevitable process linked to regional development. As cities and towns expand, they put more pressure on the environment resources. Understanding evolution of urban areas its effects landscape dynamics are crucial for sustainable Spatial expansion models, such as Cellular Automata based Patch-generating Land Use Simulation (CA-PLUS) model, have proven be effective in tracking growth predicting future expansion. These models incorporate various spatial parameters assess their influence urbanization. This study forecasts urbanization trends years 2025 2030 Bangalore City, using CA-PLUS model. model integrates a land analysis strategy (LEAS) with Automata-based random patch seeds (CARS), along multiple driving factors. A 16-year time series dataset (from 2006 2022) was used analyze use patterns. The results show significant Bangalore, initially driven by at core later peri-urban development, which has now extended beyond city's boundaries. Various factors influencing changes were also identified projected demand 2022, then evaluated against actual LULC map 2022. Findings indicate that population, proximity metro stations road networks greater impact than other variables. calibrated achieved 83% accuracy kappa coefficient exceeding 74%, demonstrating utility understanding planning.
