Traditionally, “ancient villages” are communities that date back to a previous era, possess abundant traditional resources, and hold significant historical, social, cultural, ecological, economic significance. This study examines the geographical chronological development of 2957 in Yangtze River Basin extensively employs GIS spatial analysis, geostatistical historical literature review evolution locations settlements under various factors. The study’s findings revealed that: (1) From standpoint, villages area present distribution state “two cores, small aggregation, many dispersions”. two core clusters located at intersection Hunan, Guizhou, Chongqing provinces, where natural advantages attracted people from different dynasties settle here.
