Understanding the impact of vegetation on organic matter content in sediments is essential for sustainable reservoir management and water quality protection. This study examined relationship between land cover, erosion processes, accumulation four small reservoirs Republic Serbia. Organic was quantified analyzed relation to basin characteristics, including land-use composition, absolute mean flow gradients, sediment grain size distribution. Field sampling conducted across catchments reservoirs—Duboki potok, Resnik, Ljukovo, Sot—with samples collected from main tributaries basins. A multi-method approach employed, combining remote sensing vegetation-cover assessment, granulometric analysis, evaluation via loss-on-ignition at 350 °C, statistical correlation analysis assess influence use hydrological gradients composition. The results revealed a strong (R = 0.892) forest cover sedimentary content, confirming significant role stabilizing promoting deposition. Reservoirs with higher shrub (e.g., Sot Duboki potok) exhibited greater (5.79–5.98%), while agriculture-dominated Ljukovo catchment (76.85% agricultural land) recorded lowest (3.89%) due increased displacement reduced resistance. These findings underscore critical regulating dynamics enhancing retention reservoirs. To mitigate excessive deposition improve quality, watershed strategies—such as buffer strips, afforestation, control measures—are recommended.
