Coal fly ash (CFA) is the primary solid waste generated by coal-fired industry, and predominant treatment methods include accumulation, landfill, production of cement-based building materials. However, availability these relatively limited, there a need for technological upgrades. The extensive accumulation not only leads to environmental pollution but also has detrimental effects on human health. With its loose structure main chemical components Al2O3 SiO2, CFA conducive synthesis promising nanoporous materials applications in adsorption. use as raw material can significantly reduce preparation costs, improve comprehensive utilization efficiency, manufacture more valuable products, aligning with current strategy sustainable development. Currently, most widely used method hydrothermal synthesis. This review focuses principles, methods, influencing factors synthesis, particular emphasis CFA-based mesoporous silica, zeolites, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), which have been systematically reviewed previously. quality synthesized be finely adjusted through process. A comparison advantages disadvantages each process will made, impact conditions synthetic products analyzed. Additionally, brief discussion latest research advances their adsorption provided. Finally, relevant challenges issues proposed.
