The current study is a content analysis of news comments posted on the Russian social network VKontakte to investigate expression opinions material well-being. Based NLP methods, we analyze main groups expression, which are considered in context formulating evaluations and appealing norms. How weather impacts expressed sentiment in Russia: evidence from Odnoklassniki DOI Creative Commons

Prior research suggests that weather conditions may substantively impact people's emotional state and mood. In Russia, the relationship between mood has been studied for certain regions-usually with severe or extreme climatic conditions-but quite limited samples of up to 1,000 people. Over past decade, partly due proliferation online social networks development natural language processing techniques, become possible study based on sentiment expressed by individuals. One key advantages such studies digital traces is it analyze much larger people in comparison traditional survey-based studies. this article, we investigate historical seven Russian cities data one largest networks, Odnoklassniki. We constructed a daily city-level positive metric 2.76 million posts published 1.31 unique users from Odnoklassniki its dynamics relative via regression modelling. It was found maximum temperature +20 °C +25 °C, light breeze (between 5 11 km/h) an increase average 20-25 compared previous day are all associated higher numbers expressions sentiment, whereas difference minimum temperatures 15-20 lower sentiment.

As one of the major platforms communication, social networks have become a valuable source opinions and emotions. Considering that sharing emotions offline online is quite similar, historical posts from seem to be data for measuring observable subjective well-being (OSWB). In this study, we calculated OSWB indices Russian-speaking segment Twitter using Affective Social Data Model Socio-Technical Interactions. This model utilises demographic information post-stratification techniques make sample representative, by selected characteristics, general population country. For sentiment analysis, fine-tuned RuRoBERTa-Large on RuSentiTweet achieved new state-of-the-art results F1 = 0.7229. Several indicators demonstrated moderate Spearman's correlation with traditional survey-based net affect (rs 0.469 rs 0.5332, p < 0.05) positive 0.5177 0.548, in Russia.
