Marine lipids are recognized for their-health promoting features, mainly being the primary sources of omega-3 fatty acids, and therefore critical human nutrition in an age when global supply these nutrients is experiencing unprecedent pressure due to ever-increasing demand. The seafood industry originates a considerable yield co-products worldwide that, while already explored other purposes, remain mostly undervalued as sustainable healthy lipids, often low-value oil production. These especially appealing lipid since, besides well-known nutritional upside marine animal fat, which particularly rich polyunsaturated they also have interesting bioactive properties, may garner them further interest, not only food, but high-end applications. Besides added value that represent valuable sources, there obvious ecological reducing waste. In this sense, repurposing bioresources will contribute more use strain on heavily depleted stocks. Therefore, untapping potential aligns with both health environmental goals by guaranteeing additional eco-conscious practices.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a neurodegenerative disease, is one of the most intractable illnesses which affects elderly. Clinically manifested as various impairments in memory, language, cognition, visuospatial skills, executive function, etc., symptoms gradually aggravated over time. The drugs currently used clinically can slow down deterioration AD and relieve but cannot completely cure them. are mainly acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEI) non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NDMAR) antagonists. pathogenesis inconclusive, it often associated with expression beta-amyloid. Long-chain omega-3 fatty acids esterified in lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC-omega-3) are the most bioavailable acid form and considered important for brain health. Lysophosphatidylcholine is a hydrolyzed phospholipid that generated from action of either phospholipase PLA1 or PLA2. There two types LPC; 1-LPC (where at sn-2 position acylated) 2-LPC sn-1 acylated). The type more highly to than type. Given biological health aspects LPC types, it understand structure, properties, extraction, quantification, functional role, effect processing LPC. This review examines various involved characterization, quantification Further, effects methods on potential roles wellbeing discussed. DHA-rich-LysoPLs, including LPC, can be enzymatically produced using lipases phospholipases wide microbial strains, highest yields were obtained by Lipozyme RM-IM®, TL-IM®, Novozym 435®. Terrestrial-based phospholipids generally contain lower levels long-chain PUFAs, therefore, they less effective providing same benefits as marine-based Processing (e.g., thermal, fermentation, freezing) reduces PL fish. containing PUFA, mainly DHA (C22:6 omega-3) eicosapentaenoic EPA (C20:5 play role development neuronal cell growth. Additionally, have been implicated supporting treatment programs depression Alzheimer’s. These activities appear facilitated acute function major facilitator superfamily domain-containing protein 2 (Mfsd2a), expressed BBB endothelium, chief transporter LPC-DHA uptake brain. LPC-based delivery systems also provide opportunity improve properties some bioactive compounds during storage absorption. Overall, LPCs great improving health, but their safety potentially negative should taken into consideration.

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a dynamic separating neurocytes and brain tissues from blood that extremely sealed strictly regulated by transporters such as aquaporin-4 (AQP-4), glucose transporter (GLUT), specialized tight junctional complexes (TJCs) including junctions (TJs), adherens (AJs), Zonulae occludens (ZOs). With specifically selective transcellular paracellular permeability, the BBB maintains homeostatic microenvironment to protect central nervous system (CNS). In recent years, increasing attention has been paied importance of disruption dysfunction in pathology neurological disorders diseases, Alzheimer’s diseases (AD), Parkinson (PD), stroke cerebral edema. However, further research on how integral structure function are altered under physiological or pathological conditions still needed. Focusing ultrastructural features combining latest associated proteins transporters, regulation change were elucidated. By summarizing protective effects known bioactive compounds derived marine life BBB, this review aims highlight key treatment several major instead normally described obstacle drug absorption transport. Being the most common cause of implant failure, peri-implantitis is defined as a pathological condition associated with occurrence peri-implant plaque, characterized by mucosal inflammation and progressive loss supporting bone tissue attributed to persistence pro-inflammatory cytokines. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which type omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, generally used for treatment many inflammatory diseases. However, suitable form dosing its therapeutic effect on remain unclear. In this study, novel nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) loaded squalene DHA was fabricated (DHA-loaded NLC). The encapsulation efficiency drug loading values DHA-loaded NLC were 78.13% ± 1.85% 28.09% 0.48%, respectively. release gradual steady until 144 h. addition, free-radical-scavenging rate (0.57 0.03) much higher than that sole (0.17 0.003). By inhibiting nuclear factor-κB p65 translocation, prevented activation downstream pathways exerted anti-inflammatory effects macrophages. Moreover, showed better preventing alveolar resorption rat model DHA. Hence, enhanced bioavailability DHA, offering approach peri-implantitis.
