Patients with advanced cancer frequently endure severe pain, which substantially diminishes their quality of life and can adversely impact survival. Analgesia, a critical modality for alleviating such is now under scrutiny its potential role in progression, relationship whose underlying mechanisms remain obscure. Emerging evidence suggests that lactate, once considered metabolic byproduct, actively participates the malignant progression by modulating both immunological pathways within tumor microenvironment. Furthermore, lactate implicated modulation cancer-related exerting effects through direct indirect mechanisms. This review synthesizes current understanding lactate's production, transport, functional roles cells, encompassing regulation metabolism, immunity, progression. Additionally, we dissect complex, bidirectional between assess anesthetics on pain relief, homeostasis, tumorigenesis.
