The search for novel sources of nutrients is among the basic goals achievement sustainable progress. In this context, microalgae are relevant organisms, being rich in high-value compounds and able to grow open ponds or photobioreactors, thus enabling profitable exploitation aquatic resources. Microalgae, a huge taxon containing photosynthetic microorganisms living freshwater, as well brackish marine waters, typically unicellular eukaryotic, include green algae (Chlorophyceae), red (Rhodophyceae), brown (Phaeophyceae) diatoms (Bacillariophyceae). recent decades, have been considered most humans with respect other microalgae. This review focuses on studies exploring their bio-pharmacological activities when human disease prevention and/or treatment. addition, we extracts (or purified compounds) specific nutraceutical applications.

Abstract The consumer demand for functional foods derived from natural sources has been enhanced due to health‐promoting effects. Algae are widely available globally as a sustainable source of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. Algal lipids underexplored that exhibit several nutraceutical effects applications in fortification, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals. Both macro‐ microalgae composed high‐quality lipids. These latter involve polar nonpolar essential fatty acids. Therefore, this review aimed bring out knowledge on the chemistry various isolated identified micro‐ macroalgae. Further, their extraction using traditional thermal (solid–liquid, liquid–liquid) advanced nonthermal (supercritical fluid, microwave‐, ultrasound‐, enzyme‐assisted) techniques explored.
