The pharmacological interest of lichens lies in their ability to produce bioactive secondary metabolites, being most them phenolic compounds with reactive hydroxyl groups which confer antioxidant potential through multiple mechanisms. increasing incidence and impact oxidative stress-related diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, has promoted the search new strategies for control purposes. information compiled this review comes from vitro research, on cell substrates animal models, allows us affirm that constitute, field natural products, a promising source compounds, many phenolic, activity. Keywords: lichens; pharmacology; antioxidant; metabolites
