Turnera

activity
has
been
widely
studied.
The
importance
this
genus,
particularly
diffusa,
as
source
treatment
for
various
conditions
evidenced
by
the
large
number
new
studies
that
have
evaluated
its
activity.
Accordingly,
objective
review
was
to
compile
information
published
in
last
ten
years
concerning
activities
reported
spp.
present
work
includes
92
publications
evaluate
29
bioactivities
and
toxicological
genotoxic
on
five
species
genus.
Among
pharmacological
effects
reported,
antioxidant,
hepatoprotective,
neuroprotective,
hypoglycemic,
aphrodisiac
seem
more
promising.
Phytochemicals
standardized
plant
extracts
could
offer
alternative
therapeutic
remedies
diseases.
Although
several
flavonoids,
cyanogenic
glycosides,
monoterpenoids,
triterpenoids,
fatty
acids
isolated
plants,
future
research
should
focus
identification
main
active
principles
responsible
these
activities,
well
perform
clinical
trials
support
laboratory
results.
