Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone that plays significant role in various developmental and physiological processes higher plants. In this study, ABA was quantified Chamaecyparis obtusa, Pinus rigida × taeda, densiflora seeds stored for 20 years at −18 °C, 4 or 25 °C using high-performance liquid chromatography. At all temperatures, C. obtusa had the highest concentration, followed by P. taeda then densiflora. The germination rates of were also investigated. For two species, there an inverse relationship between content rate. However, as failed to germinate, no such correlation observed species. This study provides important information advancing research gymnosperms, which may provide insight into their biochemical mechanisms.

Abstract BACKGROUND The shortcomings of synthetic pesticides are becoming increasingly evident. In the pursuit looking for alternative, environmentally friendly pesticides, potential use two naturally occurring sesquiterpenes, α ‐bisabolol and bisabolol oxide A, as bactericides or acaricides, was investigated against three gram‐positive gram‐negative bacteria, eggs larvae cattle tick Hyalomma scupense , respectively. primary targeted site insecticides is acetylcholinesterase (AChE), so inhibitory activity both sesquiterpenes evaluated. Then, molecular docking mechanics generalized Born surface area (MM‐GBSA) studies were performed to gain insight into their binding mode in AChE active site. RESULTS Bisabolol A showed good Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli, Salmonella enteritidis with inhibition zones ranging from 16 34 mm minimal concentration (CIM) 3.125 mg mL −1 . Ovicidal larvicidal assays revealed promising H. scupense, being more effective larval ticks lethal (LC 50 ) value 0.78%. Both compounds also displayed potent anti‐AChE (IC values 37.09 28.14 μg Furthermore, exhibited comparable scores (−7.289 −7.139 Kcal mol respectively) found accommodate active‐site gorge via hydrogen bonding hydrophobic interactions. CONCLUSION and, a lesser degree, bacteria ectoparasites may represent an economical sustainable alternative toxic control pathogens. © 2024 Society Chemical Industry.

The aim of this study was to investigate the antifungal and antioxidant activities Chamaecyparis obtusa (C. obtusa) extract (COE) against Candida albicans albicans). Methods: activity determined using three methods based on 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH) scavenging, total polyphenol measurement, flavonoid measurement. In addition, survival rate human keratinocytes (HaCaT) checked confirm their stability. A one-way ANOVA also confirmed COE C. its proliferative effect HaCaT cells. difference between each group, Tukey HSD test performed as a post hoc analysis, significance level set at 0.05 two-tailed test. Results: found contain 424.150 mg GAE/g polyphenols, 127.566 CE/g flavonoids, 83.594% radical scavenging activity. Furthermore, 30 mg/mL exhibited complete noticeable killing observed concentration increased. For instance, 2.5 dosage COE, cells were safe, but showed distinct effect. Conclusions: has activity, so it high potential an effective natural agent. Therefore, oral gargle containing is expected be safe treatment in candidiasis clinical practice.
