Loss of implant function is a common complication in orthopaedic and dental surgery. Among the primary causes failure are peri-implant infections which often result removal. This study demonstrates development new antimicrobial titanium coating with ZnO nanoparticles various sizes morphologies immobilised poly(allylamine hydrochloride) alginate multilayers, combined epitaxially grown vaterite crystals. The coated samples were characterised methods (FTIR, XRD, SEM) surface properties evaluated via water contact angle charge measurements. Zinc ion release was quantified using ICP-MS. efficacy coatings tested against Staphylococcus aureus, epidermidis, Candida albicans while biocompatibility preosteoblast cells (MC3T3-E1). Results demonstrated successful preparation calcium carbonate/ZnO composite on surfaces. Zn ions released from dramatically influenced morphology where flower-like observed. surfaces exhibited robust activity, achieving over 90% microbial viability reduction for albicans. Importantly, Zn2+ concentrations remained below cytotoxicity limit MC3T3-E1 cells, showing potential safe effective applications.

Oral health represents a significant factor in general and life quality. A number of people are affected by tooth loss during their lifetimes, especially the older population. Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) resins preferred option for replacing missing teeth due to material stability, easy handling, low toxicity, most importantly biocompatibility with human tissue. Even though PMMA is preferable denture preparation, it susceptible microbial colonization, which can induce development oral infections. This study aimed increase antimicrobial effect compare properties incorporated different amounts (2 5 wt %) zinc oxide (ZnO; primary size 62.4 nm ± 16.7 nm) copper (CuO; 434.0 118.5 nanoparticles determine effects on Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus yeast Candida albicans-pathogenic microbes often found dentures. To understand adhesion microorganisms PMMA-modified surfaces, following surface were measured: roughness, contact angle, ζ potential. In addition, CIE (the International Commission Illumination) color parameters materials determined. The bacterial was measured viable plate counts scanning electron microscopy. Microbial infections are causing numerous deaths and can be found on various surfaces such as fabrics used in healthcare facilities wound dressings or protective clothing operating sterile rooms. The study aimed to determine the difference antibacterial activity of sheet, sphere, rod-like ZnO NPs embedded poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) multilayers cotton, nylon, polyester with Staphylococcus aureus. Additionally, adhesion recombinant human SARS-CoV-2 RBD S-protein coated materials water droplet absorption after placement fabric surface were tested. Results demonstrated that PAH/ZnO coating achieved highest cotton fabric, aureus cell viability reduced by more than 99%. significantly bacterial coverage textiles, particularly polyester. protein was considerably nylon due change material's hydrophobicity wettability. Due its better NP adherence, slightly higher performance showing potential for dressings, especially addition NPs. showed usage rooms against bacteria, viral adhesion, aerosol through skin.

The prevalence of bacterial infections presents a significant challenge in the medical field, demanding effective strategies to impede adhesion and growth on various surfaces. conducted study investigates efficacy polyelectrolyte multilayers─comprising poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) alginate (ALG)─embedded with zinc oxide (ZnO) copper (CuO) nanoparticles (NPs) inhibit stainless-steel Surface characterization involved zeta potential, contact angle, roughness assessments. effect NP composition, size, morphology conjunction polycation or polyanion terminating multilayers was evaluated against planktonic surface-adhered Escherichia coli (E. coli) cells. Surfaces positively charged PAH-terminating multilayer displayed higher water angles (≈ 63°) than negatively ALG-terminating 45°). Multilayers containing ZnO NPs showed inhibition E. growth, >99%. Moreover, complete achieved for both CuO. Due their larger specific surface area, rod-like antibacterial activity. samples ALG as layer more substantial properties PAH layer. Biocompatibility tests immortalized human keratinocyte cells revealed good compatibility incorporating NPs. In summary, this underscores potential CuO within PAH/ALG applications without compromising cytocompatibility.
