Carbon dots (CDs) have garnered attention for their potential applications across diverse fields. This is attributed to characteristics, which include abundant raw material sources, uncomplicated surface modification, cost-effectiveness, excellent fluorescence, low toxicity, and biocompatibility. In this review, we introduced the top-down bottom-up synthesis techniques of CDs. Then, discuss physical, chemical, optical features focus on in environmental analysis, including metal ion sensing, contaminants detection, photocatalysts, other aspect. Rice cultivated in cadmium (Cd)-polluted acidic paddy soil poses important health risks China. Mitigating Cd accumulation rice is of crucial importance for food safety and human health. In this study, using Chuangliangyou 669 as the ratoon variety, a field experiment was conducted fields with severe pollution (Cd concentration > 1.0 mg kg−1).
