Exposure to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) causes cognitive impairment (CI). In the preliminary study, Lactobacillus gasseri NK109 suppressed LPS-induced expression of proinflammatory cytokines in macrophages. Therefore, effect on LPS-increased CI was investigated mice. Intraperitoneal injection LPS caused CI-like behaviors and neuroinflammation. However, orally administered reduced hippocampal IL-1β TNF-α expression, whereas LPS-decreased BDNF increased. also colonic myeloperoxidase, IL-1β, expression. The efficacy increased by combination soybean embryo ethanol extract (SE). These findings suggest that with SE can improve alleviating inflammation-mediated thereby being beneficial for dementia therapy.

Soybean alleviates cognitive impairment. In our preparatory experiment, we found that dry-heat (90 °C for 30 min)-processed soybean embryo ethanol extract (hSE) most potently suppressed lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α expression in BV2 cells among dry-heat-, steaming-, and oil exclusion-processed extracts (SEs). Heat processing increased the absorbable soyasaponin Bb content of SE. Therefore, investigated whether hSE its supplement could mitigate LPS-impaired function mice. Among SEs, mitigated more than parental upregulated LPS-suppressed brain-derived neurotropic (BDNF) hippocampus, while LPS-induced TNF-α IL-1β hippocampus colon were downregulated. Lactobacillus gasseri NK109 additively function-enhancing activity mice with impairment as follows: mix hippocampal BDNF BDNF-positive neuron cell numbers decreased NF-κB-positive colon. These findings suggest may decrease colitis neuroinflammation by suppressing NF-κB activation inducing expression, resulting attenuation

The age-induced disruption of gut flora, termed dysbiosis, is intimately tied to compromised immune function, augmented oxidative stress, and a spectrum age-linked disorders. This review examines the fundamental mechanisms employed by probiotic strains modulate microbiota composition metabolic profiles, mitigate cognitive decline via gut-brain axis, gene transcription, alleviate inflammatory responses stress. We elucidate capacity probiotics as precision intervention restore microbiome homeostasis age-related conditions, thereby offering theoretical framework for decelerate aging, manage diseases, elevate quality life.

Abstract Saccharomyces boulardii (Sb), a yeast probiotic, has beneficial effects on gastrointestinal and metabolic diseases. Recently, the manipulation of gut microbiota with Sb its potential role in modulating neurological conditions through regulating neuroinflammatory responses via gut-brain axis been considered. In this study, we examined effect toll-like receptors 4 (TLR4)-mediated neuroinflammation spatial memory impairment lipopolysaccharide (LPS) model. The allocation rats into four groups, namely 1) control, 2) LPS, 3) + 4) Sb, was done randomly, all treatments were applied according to experimental design. Memory performance then evaluated by Morris water maze (MWM) task. levels TLR4 pathway-mediated proteins brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) hippocampus determined using western blot. Also, neuronal survival investigated Nissl staining anatomical area brain. Results demonstrated that oral supplementation improved ameliorating LPS-induced deficit rats. Regarding markers, elevated nuclear kappa B (NF-κB) interleukin (IL)-1β significantly decreased brains groups following treatment Sb. Meanwhile, destructive LPS reduced hippocampal CA1 CA3 regions. Overall, our findings suggest may have impact preventing processes mediated TLR4/NF-κB axis.
