Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are effective antiobesity drugs. However, the precise central mechanisms of GLP-1RAs remain elusive. We administered to patients with obesity and observed a heightened sense preingestive satiation. Analysis human mouse brain samples pinpointed GLP-1 (GLP-1R) neurons in dorsomedial hypothalamus (DMH) as candidates for encoding Optogenetic manipulation DMH

Abstract Purpose Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists have shown potential in managing eating disorders (EDs). Recent studies highlight their effects on pathophysiological pathways, indicating therapeutic promise, particularly for binge disorder (BED). This systematic review evaluates the of GLP-1 BED, focusing weight management and behaviors. Methods A search PubMed, Scopus, Web Science, Cochrane Library, along with manual searches, identified assessing BED patients up to November 8, 2024. Observational clinical trials meeting inclusion criteria were analyzed. Results Five (182 participants) included. Patients receiving experienced greater loss (− 3.81 kg; 95% CI − 5.14 2.49; p < 0.01, I 2 : 59.88%) compared controls. significantly reduced BMI 1.48 kg/m ) waist circumference 3.14 cm). Binge Eating Scale (BES) scores improved 8.14 points; 13.13 3.15; 0.01), though heterogeneity was noted. Conclusions underscores role management. However, given limited data, especially concerning EDs other than long-term these medications, further comprehensive are recommended evaluate impact various different across diverse demographic groups. Level evidence I, randomized controlled trials.

Background: Functional dyspepsia (FD) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by chronic digestive symptoms without identifiable structural abnormalities. FD affects approximately 8–46% of the population, leading to significant socioeconomic burdens due reduced quality life and productivity. Traditional medicine utilizes differential diagnosis through comprehensive examinations, which include observing questioning, abdominal examination, pulse for disorders. However, challenges persist in standardization objectivity diagnostic protocols. Methods: This study aims develop an artificial intelligence-based algorithm predict identified patterns patients with integrating brain–body bio-signals, including brain activity measured near-infrared spectroscopy, wave, skin conductance response, electrocardiography. We will conduct observational cross-sectional comprising 100 diagnosed according Rome IV criteria, collecting bio-signal data alongside diagnoses performed licensed Korean doctors. The protocol was reviewed approved Institutional Review Board Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong on 25 January 2024 (IRB no. KHNMCOH 2023-12-003-003) registered Clinical Trial Registry (KCT0009275). Results: By creating AI algorithms based bio-signals them into clinical practice, reliability traditional diagnostics are expected be enhanced. Conclusions: integration analysis process improve practices support broader acceptance traditional-medicine processes healthcare.

Treatment options such as neurofeedback (NF) that directly target the link between aberrant brain activity patterns and dysfunctional eating behaviors in binge-eating disorder (BED) are emerging. However, virtually nothing is known about mental strategies used to modulate food-specific associated brain-based or subjective success of specific strategies. This study firstly investigated use response individually appetitive food cues adults with BED overweight obesity based on a randomized-controlled trial providing electroencephalography (EEG)- real-time functional near-infrared spectroscopy (rtfNIRS)-NF BED.Strategy reports written by participants were classified qualitative content analysis. Additionally, employed N = 23 patients who received EEG-NF targeting reduction fronto-central high beta analyzed quantitatively through their regulation success. The following eight categories, ordered frequency descending order, found: "Behavior," "Imagination," "Emotion," "Distraction," "Thought," "Concentration," "Self-Talk" "No Strategy." Linear mixed models revealed "Thought" positive predictors (defined during beneath baseline), "Concentration" negative predictor (i.e., self-reported) NF success. In conclusion, our offers classification system may be future studies assessing strategy for regulating food-related responses overweight/obesity, valuable information potential benefits transferability situations outside treatment.

Background: Unhealthy food compensation following exercise contributes to the failure of for weight loss. Autonomous motivation is a protective factor against exercise-induced unhealthy foods licensing (EUFL). However, neural mechanism exercise-specific autonomous and how these correlates link EUFL remain uncertain. Methods: This study explored resting-state brain activity (i.e., amplitude or fractional low-frequency fluctuations (ALFF/fALFF) regional homogeneity (ReHo)) seed-based functional connectivity (rsFC) among 223 (72.3% female) healthy young adults. were measured by self-report measurements. Results: Results across indices rsFC analysis show that was robustly associated with within cerebellum posterior lobe (PCB), middle frontal gyrus (MFG), occipital (MOG). Specifically, PCB acted as hub, connecting lobes. Moreover, higher indirectly predicts reduced through enhanced in MFG PCB–MOG. Conclusions: Neural substrate conflict awareness motor control may explain effect on post-exercise eating. Enhancement functions could help regulate eating improve effectiveness
