Abstract Over the last decades, Mediterranean diet gained enormous scientific, social, and commercial attention due to proven positive effects on health undeniable taste that facilitated a widespread popularity. Researchers have investigated role of Mediterranean-type dietary patterns human all around world, reporting consistent findings concerning its benefits. However, what does truly define diet? The myriad scores synthesizes nutritional content diet, but variety aspects are generally unexplored when studying adherence this pattern. Among factors, main characteristics such as consumption fruit vegetables, olive oil, cereals should be accompanied by other underrated features, following: (i) specific reference whole-grain consumption; (ii) considering legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs spices often untested exploring diet; (iii) eggs dairy products common foods consumed in region (irrespectively modern demonization fat intake). Another feature includes (red) wine consumption, more general alcohol intake unmeasured, lacking specificity drinking occasion intensity (i.e., during meals). aspects, cooking methods rather simple yet extremely varied. Several related quality food was first investigated: locally produced, minimally processed, preserved with natural fermentation), strongly connected territory limited controlled impact environment. Dietary habits also associated lifestyle behaviors, sleeping patterns, social cultural values, favoring commensality frugality. In conclusion, it is reductive consider just pattern groups decontextualized from geographical background culture. While methodologies study demonstrated useful up date, holistic approach considered future studies aforementioned features values potentially applied globally through concept “Planeterranean” diet.

Over the years, health challenges have become increasingly complex and global and, at beginning of 21st century, chronic diseases, including cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory as well cancer diabetes, been identified by World Health Organization one biggest threats to human health. Recently, antimicrobial resistance has also emerged a growing problem public for management infectious diseases. In this scenario, exploration natural products supplementation or alternative therapeutic options is acquiring great importance, among them, olive tree, Olea europaea L, specifically leaves, fruits, oil, investigated its promoting properties. Traditionally, these properties largely attributed high concentration monounsaturated fatty acids, although, in recent beneficial effects associated other components, particularly polyphenols. Among most interesting group represented L secoiridoids, comprising oleuropein, oleocanthal, oleacein, ligstroside, which display anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, cardioprotective, neuroprotective anticancer activities. This review provides an overview multiple effects, molecular mechanisms, potential applications secoiridoids from L.

Table olives are a rich dietary source of pentacyclic triterpenes (PT) and polyphenols (P), many which have demonstrated significant antiproliferative proapoptotic activities. This study aimed to evaluate the effect this food on early stages colon carcinogenesis induced by 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) at 20 mg kg-1. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were administered either water or suspension Arbequina table (OA; 3.85 g kg-1) gavage 10 mL kg-1 for 49 days. Each group was then divided into two subgroups that received subcutaneous injections carcinogen (DMH+/Olives- DMH+/Olives+) solvent (DMH-/Olives- DMH-/Olives+) days 8, 15, 22. Analysis LC-MS AO enabled us calculate doses PT (12.38 P (4.02 as well content these compounds. At end intervention, we found 5.1% 0.2% dose in colonic DMH+/Olives+ group. The highest concentrations maslinic oleanolic acids (321 ± 67 84.8 14.3 nmol g-1, respectively) followed hydroxytyrosol (3.31 0.24 g-1). supplementation with reduced aberrant crypt foci 54.1%, mucin depleted 35.7% compared control daily consumption exerts chemopreventive activities reducing preneoplastic intestinal lesions, might be explained, least part, remaining colon.

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) with a high content of polyphenols has attracted attention due to its proved beneficial effects in decreasing the risk cardiovascular disease, modulating cholesterol levels (HDL and LDL), inflammatory markers, haemoglobin1Ac, suggesting that EVOO can have an impact glycemia regulation. This study assessed consumption northern Portuguese polyphenol-rich profile bioactive molecules on several parameters, such as saliva serum biomarkers, explored gut oral microbiota regarding Bacillota Bacteroidota content. Thus, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), C-reactive protein (CRP), faecal salivary microbiomes were evaluated before after exposure EVOO. The results showed promotes decrease HbA1C pro-inflammatory interleukin IL-1β, associated processes. Moreover, intake modulated microbiota, increasing both ecological niches phyla being health, demonstrating prebiotic effect.

Normal pregnancy is characterized by changes in lipid metabolism with significant implications for the health of both mother and offspring. When these develop into maternal dyslipidemia, a association adverse outcomes has been observed, including development gestational diabetes (GD), modulation inflammatory response, excessive fetal growth. In present study, we performed lipidomic assessment patients at GD diagnosis (24-28 weeks gestation) 12 after diagnosis. We found higher levels esterified oleic acid plasma time women who subsequently required pharmacological therapy to control blood glucose compared those did not require additional treatment, suggesting that measurement might be an tool early identification more severe form diabetes. Moreover, showed positive correlation growth context adequate glycemic control, supporting metabolic dysregulation other pathways whose could help clinicians discriminate different cases within spectrum severity disease. Finally, between circulating BAFF later adds possible mechanism support pro-inflammatory pro-diabetic state set GD. Overall, findings strongly role as marker stratification during pregnancy.

Background Coronary heart disease (CHD) occurs due to the narrowing or blockage of coronary arteries caused by atherosclerosis. It is one leading factors widespread mortality and morbidity. The latest research highlighted importance Mediterranean diet (MD) as an excellent cardioprotective nutritional regimen because its abundant content monounsaturated fats, antioxidant-rich compounds, anti-inflammatory nutrients. Conventional CHD risk models frequently overlook food habits, highlighting need for sophisticated predictive modeling that includes lifestyle aspects. Objectives We aim use machine learning (ML) prediction combining adherence MD with clinical characteristics.
