Background: Although structured clinical interviews are considered the gold standard for assessing binge eating disorder (BED), self-administered Binge Eating Scale (BES) has been widely used as a screening tool BED in research. However, psychometric properties of BES among Chinese young adults remain unclear. This study aimed to examine validity version with large sample. Methods: A total 2182 adult college students were tested using Simplified (SCBES), 7-Item Binge-Eating Disorder Screener (BEDS-7), Zung Self-Rating Depression (SDS), Generalized Anxiety (GAD-7), and Dual-Modes Self-Control (DMSC). The frequency objective binge-eating episodes was measure severity. Validity reliability SCBES assessed through multiple analyses, along item analysis. Results: data revealed that demonstrated reasonable validity. Cronbach's α value 0.813, one-month test–retest 0.835. exploratory factor analysis (EFA) extracted three first-order factors, which explained 53.82% variance. confirmatory (CFA) confirmed three-factor model (ie, Binge-eating behaviors, Lack control, Negative affects related overeating), good fit. also excellent concurrent criterion validity, significantly correlating BEDS-7 ( r= 0.760– 0.782, p < 0.001).
