Background/objectives: Cognitive decline and loss of physical function are common concerns in older adults, with limited effective interventions available. This study aimed to assess the impact pomegranate extract (PE) supplementation on cognitive adults aged 55-70 years. Methods: A randomised, double-blind placebo-controlled trial was conducted 86 participants, who were assigned receive either PE (740 mg) or a placebo (maltodextrin) daily for 12 weeks. assessed using computerised tests (Corsi, digit span, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), Tower Hanoi, Stroop test Rey auditory verbal learning test). Physical measured through assessments standing balance, gait speed, chair sit stand grip strength. Results: There significant effect treatment time WCST performance (F (1,2) = 2.718, p 0.05), while trends towards better outcomes group noted Hanoi tests. did not seem be affected by intervention, but results may have been high baseline activity levels full mobility adults. Conclusions: first examine over duration Findings suggest that has potential improving offer promising approach preventing ageing Further controlled well-designed long-term studies needed establish effects health, along mechanisms action involved.

In this study, it is the first that Viticis Fructus (VF) was used as raw material for extracting total flavonoids using ultrasound-assisted enzyme extraction (UAE) method. Response surface methodology employed to determine optimal parameters. The conditions were follows: 60 % ethanol solution extract solvent, material-liquid ratio of 1:25, pH value 4, addition amount 1.5 %, enzymatic hydrolysis time 30 min, temperature 40 ℃, and ultrasonic 50 min. Comparing flavonoid yield VF processed (PVF) extracted different methods, observed UAE resulted in a higher compared traditional ultrasound extraction. Additionally, PVF by all three methods generally than VF. also demonstrated better vitro antioxidant activity These results suggest an effective method enhance natural flavonoids. study physicochemical properties showed significantly increased after stir-frying, indicating their efficacy can be enhanced.

Pomegranate is a notable source of nutrients, containing considerable proportion organic acids, polysaccharides, vitamins, fatty and polyphenols such as flavonoids, phenolic tannins. It also rich in nutritionally important minerals chemical elements K, P, Na, Ca, Mg, N. The presence several bioactive compounds metabolites pomegranate has led to its incorporation into the functional food category, where it used for numerous therapeutic properties. Pomegranate’s have shown antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer effects. Aging process characterized by chronic accumulation damages, progressively compromising cells, tissues, organs over time. Inflammaging chronic, subclinical, low-grade inflammation that occurs during aging linked many age-related diseases. This review aims summarize discuss evidence benefits extract slow processes intervening mechanisms underlying inflammaging. These studies mainly concern neurodegenerative skin diseases, while other fields application need be more practical. Furthermore, no human demonstrated anti-inflammaging effects pomegranate. In future, supplementation with extracts, polyphenols, or urolithins could represent valuable low-risk complementary therapy patients difficult-to-manage well valid alternative topical systemic treatment pathologies.
