Studies on numerous species have demonstrated strikingly conserved mechanisms that determine the aging process, from yeasts to worms, flies, zebrafish, mice, and humans. The fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster is an excellent model organism for studying biological basis of normal etiology age-related diseases. Since its inception in 1967, Bloomington Stock Center (BDSC) has grown into largest collection documented D. strains (currently > 91,000). This paper aims briefly review provides a guide help users understand organization stock listings BDSC website familiarize themselves with search functions FlyBase, emphasis using genes pathways as examples find stocks studies.
