Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are the most important components of plant innate immunity to environmental stress factors and one ancient tools defense system. Most them synthesized as constitutive immunity, but there also inducible forms belonging “pathogenesis-related proteins” (PR-proteins from classes 12, 13 14). This review provides characteristics primary three-dimensional structures main families AMPs. The relationship between types spatial arrangement polypeptide chain is drawn. functional analysis AMPs presented by data on spectrum quantitative level activities against a number economically significant fungal bacterial phytopathogens, related biological effects indicated. Additionally, current information provided molecular mechanisms antimicrobial action based defensins studied structural group. In conclusion, aspects modes for microorganisms considered, basis which variant classification these molecules proposed. Based data, prospects their use biopesticides protection pathogens were assessed.
