Studies have demonstrated that methylene blue exhibits significant antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2 or related coronaviruses at the cellular level, suggesting its potential as an anti-SARS-CoV-2 drug. Herein, we report does not exhibit noticeable in a lethal model involving SARS-CoV-2-related pangolin coronavirus GX_P2V (short_3UTR) infection CAG-hACE2 transgenic mice. We employed plaque reduction assays and cell experiments to compare extracellular virucidal of compound ability inhibit viral replication cells those nirmatrelvir. Methylene strong but did cells. The control nirmatrelvir lacked exhibited abilities replication. was further tested mouse plasma. Incubation plasma increased EC

Curcumin, a polyphenol extracted from Curcuma longa L. with variety of biological and pharmacological activities, has been identified as promising photosensitizer for food sterilization. However, its low aqueous solubility bioavailability greatly restrict the practical application curcumin. In last decades, number approaches have proposed to address this challenge, several having already attained notable commercial viability. CuminUP60®, patented curcumin complex consisting extract Poloxam407, gathered attention in realms enhanced solubility, therapeutic potential. antimicrobial photodynamic activity novel not investigated. current study, we found that CuminUP60® showed maximum absorption intensity at 434 nm capability produce Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) upon blue light excitation. Furthermore, desirable bactericidal against range typical foodborne bacteria including Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Shewanella putrefaciens, Pseudomonas fluorescens (MIC = 83.33 μM) Escherichia coli 166.66 (5.3 mW/cm2) illumination 30 min. Taken together, results demonstrated possess antibacterial activity, which could provide crucial support development industrially applicable sterilization systems within industry.

Phytochemicals are typically natural bioactive compounds or metabolites produced by plants. Phytochemical-loaded nanocarrier systems, designed to overcome bioavailability limitations and enhance therapeutic effects, have garnered significant attention in recent years. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has intensified interest the application of phytochemicals combat viral infections. This review explores nanoparticle-based treatment strategies incorporating for antiviral application, highlighting their demonstrated mechanisms. It specifically examines activities phytochemical-loaded nanosystems against (i) influenza virus (IAV), respiratory syncytial (RSV), severe acute syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2); (ii) mosquito-borne viruses [dengue (DENV), Zika (ZIKV), Chikungunya (CHIKV)]; (iii) sexually transmitted/blood borne [e.g. herpes simplex (HSV), human papillomavirus (HPV), immunodeficiency (HIV)]. Furthermore, this highlights emerging role these photodynamic therapy (PDT)-mediated attenuation proliferation, offers a perspective on future directions research promising area multimodal approach.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a minimally invasive therapeutic method with high selectivity of action. It has gained great popularity in recent years as new for the treatment cancer, but also used dermatology, ophthalmology, and antimicrobial treatment, among others. The regimen involves administration photosensitizer (PS) that selectively accumulates tumor cells or present blood vessels prior to irradiation light at wavelength corresponding absorbance photosensitizer, leading generation reactive oxygen species (ROS). Choosing right PS one most important steps PDT crucial effectiveness therapy. Despite many compounds discovered, search molecules could fulfill functions an optimal improve efficiency still ongoing. Compounds natural origin contribute achieving this goal. A number photoactive substances effective synthetic photosensitizers have been described various plant fungal species. With increasing identification products, are expected emerge. Some already clinically tested promising results.
