Cancer is a multistage process that numerous modalities including systemic treatment can treat. About half of the molecules have been approved in last few decades count for plant derivatives. This review presents application tree/shrub-derived biologically active compounds as anticancer agents. Different parts trees/shrubs - wood, bark, branches, roots, leaves, needles, fruits, flowers, etc. contain wide variety primary and secondary metabolites demonstrate properties. Special attention was paid to phenolics (phenolic acids polyphenols, flavonoids non-flavonoids (tannins, lignans, stilbenes)), essential oils, their main constituents such terpenes/terpenoids, phytosterols, alkaloids, many others. The properties these are mainly attributed strong antioxidant In vitro experiments on various cancer cell lines revealed cytotoxic effect tree-derived extracts. Mechanisms action extracts also listed. Examples drugs successfully underwent clinical trials with well-established positions guidelines created by oncological societies provided. focuses directions future development agents derived from trees/shrubs. Applying trees shrubs continuously seems promising treating cancer.
