Background: This study aims to evaluate subjective visual fatigue and objective optical morphological changes in ocular structures after intermediate-duration reading on an iPad Ebook across different age groups. Methods: The sample included 108 right eyes from healthy subjects aged 18 66 years. participants read for 20 min another under controlled illumination conditions. Aberrometry retinal coherence tomography (OCT) measurements were taken before each session. Parameters such as total aberration, high-order aberration (HOA), low-order (LOA), thickness the nine Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) areas measured. was analyzed a whole divided into five groups by decade. Results: women (61.11%) 42 men (38.89%), with average of 36.58 years (±14.83). aberrometry results revealed significant differences root mean square (RMSTOTAL) both devices (p = 0.001). Low-order aberrations (RMSLOA) also changed significantly 0.001 Ebook, p 0.002 iPad), but (RMSHOA) did not. Central increased < 0.001) not iPad. peripheral change significantly. Conclusion: Moderate-duration increases LOA central thickness, variations group more pronounced effects whereas HOA remains unaffected.

Ocular health has emerged as one of the major issues global concern with a decline in quality life an aging population, particular and rise number associated morbidities mortalities. One chief reasons for vision impairment is oxidative damage inflicted to photoreceptors rods cone cells by blue light well UV radiation. The scenario been aggravated unprecedented screen-time during COVID post-COVID era. Lutein Zeaxanthin are oxygenated carotenoids proven roles augmentation ocular largely virtue their antioxidant properties protective effects against photobleaching retinal pigments, age-linked macular degeneration, cataract, retinitis pigmentosa. These molecules characterized characteristic yellow-orange colored pigmentation found significant amounts vegetables such corn, spinach, broccoli, carrots fish eggs. Unique structural signatures including tetraterpenoid skeleton extensive conjugation presence hydroxyl groups at end rings have made these evolutionarily adapted localize membrane photoreceptor prevent free radical induced peroxidation. Apart from benefits imparted health, lutein zeaxanthin also known improve cognitive function, cardiovascular physiology, arrest development malignancy. Although abundant many natural sources, bioavailability compounds low owing long aliphatic backbones. ABSTRACT In this paper, we present an eye tracking experiment to evaluate how blue light filtering of digital maps reduces visual fatigue and thus promotes vision care in public health. Prolonged exposure from screen reading results fatigue, visible the range exacerbates because it requires highest energy output display onscreen. System‐level increasingly is used as a “nighttime” mode for short sessions at night purported combat longer throughout day. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a serious physical and mental health problem worldwide, is the leading cause of irreversible, severe vision impairment loss in older people. AMD associated with multiple risk factors, many which are closely linked to increased oxidative stress. Some studies have suggested that long-term excessive exposure blue light may be potential factor for development or progression AMD. Recently, we demonstrated irradiation caused stress all-trans-retinal (atRAL)-exposed human ARPE-19 retinal pigment epithelium cells by generating singlet oxygen (1O2), apoptotic cell death. Luteolin, flavonoid found various edible plants, has been reported possess divergent health-promoting properties including anti-oxidative chemopreventive effects up-regulating phase II detoxifying enzymes through activation Keap1/Nrf2 signaling. Herein, verified cytoprotective action luteolin against using atRAL-exposed cells. Our results established effectively prevented light-induced apoptosis mitigating We also confirmed suppressed intracellular accumulation 1O2 formation atRAL-derived lipofuscin expression heme oxygenase-1 aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 Furthermore, our data implied luteolin-provoked signaling might due covalent binding o-quinone critical cysteinyl thiol Keap1. The present suggest could helpful prevention amelioration degeneration,

The prevalence of digital devices in modern society has raised concerns about the potential negative effects blue-light emissions on eye health and biological rhythms. Research into blue light from their impact emphasizes importance understanding quantifying extent scope produced by commonly used screens (smartphones, tablets, computers). goal this study was to implement a set methodologies analyze emission. A comparative specifically evaluated three popular Apple devices: iPhone 12 mini®, iPad Pro 12.9®, MacBook Pro®. devices’ spectral power measured using spectroradiometer while displaying text game at different brightness levels. laboratory measurements are compared known solar irradiance, all tested show wavelength peaks between 445 nm 455 nm, with no expected immediate photobiological risk. We quantified emission device categories concluded that levels should not significantly affect health. carried out indicated irradiance received human during one minute outdoors is greater than approximately 24 h. This also examines effectiveness blue-blocking lenses well-known brands. research highlights health, so appropriate measures can be developed mitigate, if needed, adverse ocular structures. need clarify efficacy usefulness ophthalmic still remains.
