ABSTRACT Seaweed aquaculture is rapidly growing globally and offers environmental benefits such as reducing eutrophication increasing biodiversity. Sweden has a long coast with favorable conditions for seaweed cultivation, but the current industry remains small. Over past decade, several innovative research projects have explored developed techniques tailored toward sustainable aquaculture. This study synthesizes recent advances in Swedish research, highlighting innovations that support biomass yield quality. We conducted systematic review of 130 studies from Thomson Reuters Web Science, focusing on ultimately included 21 relevant publications 1984 to 2025. The main species cultivated are brown Saccharina latissima green Ulva fenestrata . Key strategies enhance productivity, quality, sustainability include optimizing land‐based juvenile preparation, careful selection cultivation sites, strategic timing sea‐based harvests. Innovative approaches like utilization nutrient‐rich process waters food production offer methods boost protein content, aligning circular economy principles. Future development optimization protocols other protein‐rich (e.g., Palmaria palmata ) or tolerate lower salinity Fucus vesiculosus U. intestinalis will be critical maximize potential ensuring its effective contribution security conservation. As commercial interest continues grow, findings summarized here provide robust foundation expansion Europe beyond.
