The use of extended light spectra, including UV-A, green, and far-red, has been scarcely explored in vertical farming. This study evaluated the effects full spectra under two intensities (90 180 µmol m−2 s−1) on growth antioxidant properties green purple leaf lettuce. Three were tested: Blue-White (BW), Red-White (RW), Red-Blue (RB). Fresh weight (FW), dry percentage (DWP), chlorophyll concentration (NDVI), parameters (total phenolic content (TPC), capacity by DPPH FRAP total flavonoid (TFC)) assessed. Spectrum-intensity interactions significantly influenced FW, with RW-180 s−1 yielding highest FW (78.2 g plant−1 48.5 lettuce). BW-90 maximized DWP lettuce, while PAR intensity favored Chlorophyll increased s−1, color varied spectrum, RW producing lighter leaves. Antioxidant declined over time, but a particularly RW, boosted TPC TFC contents both lettuce cultivars during early stages (days 0 15). Conversely, lower 90 mainly enhanced at 15 days end cycle for cultivars. Overall, promoted best characteristics Nonetheless, findings emphasize significance fine-tuning spectrum to enhance quality farming systems considering cultivar, time variable be evaluated.

Vertical farming is an advanced form of modern agriculture, but it involves high energy consumption when providing supplemental lighting for crops. The research designed automated detection device and explored its application in vertical farms. It comprehensively investigated the effects different red-blue light intensities on two lettuces ( Lactuca sativa L. cv. ‘Spanish green’ ‘Butterhead’) varieties under highly uniform conditions. encompasses investigations into lettuce morphological parameters, photosynthetic physiology, productivity, consumption. experimental quality photoperiod were set at (R/B = 4, 16 h/d), with intensity ranging from 125 to 300 μmol/m 2 /s. experiment indicates that increase intensity, yield both also increases. Furthermore, exhibits a significant leaf amplitude day 20 25 growth. At /s, Butterhead demonstrates optimal fresh weight productivity ratio. As Spanish green lettuce, ratio 200 /s only 2.11% lower than Under cultivation conditions R/B 4 h/d, suitable production comparison, lettuce.

In the Balkans, production of globally cultivated green leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) can be slow due to reduced quality and intensity solar insolation. Our research aimed investigate effects artificial illumination duration light exposure on growth two genotypes seedlings: Genesis Jukebox. The was conducted at Institute for Vegetable Crops Smederevska Palanka, Serbia. Lettuce seeds were sown in 9 styrofoam containers per genotype, filled with commercial substrate. phase three leaves, plants placed plant chambers under multispectral white (W) LEDs monochromatic blue (B) (three LED genotype), while kept greenhouse served as control. cultured 25 days a 9h/15h 10h/14h (light/dark) photoperiod, simulate outdoor conditions. Morphological parameters (number leaves weight) measured 11th 25th days. Chlorophyll content 4th, 11th, 18th Plants grown W B had significantly higher number weight, chlorophyll than greenhouse. Using energy-efficient lights seedling during 18-25 positively impacts quality, this production, achieve high yields quality.

Light plays a crucial role in plant life, as it determines the process of photosynthesis. The red spectrum, specifically radiation within 600- 700 nm range, has highest quantum yield among all wavelengths sunlight. This means that plants convert light energy into work more efficiently, making essential for higher rate spectrum also significantly impacts growth and development, influencing seed germination, organ shape size, flowering speed. Phytochromes, which monitor photoperiod length, play key regulating development natural conditions. Many use seasonal signals, including to initiate complete programs. Therefore, is particularly important photoperiods, vegetable garden crops, sweet pepper seedlings, efficiency LED linear irradiators.
