Based on literature data and new field investigations, a checklist of the ornamental vascular flora Sicily is presented. Trees, shrubs, herbaceous, succulent plants growing in street trees, parks, private gardens, historic villas are included checklist. For each taxon, information growth forms, geographical biome origin, resident time, status (native/alien) Italy provided. A total 928 taxa (including 823 species s. str., 33 cultivars, 31 hybrids, 24 varieties, 9 subspecies, 8 forms), belonging to 486 genera 138 families, were recorded. Fabaceae, Rosaceae, Asteraceae, Cactaceae, Asparagaceae, Arecaceae, Malvaceae richest families taxa. Phanerophytes prevalent form, main part such consists Asiatic American Taxa from subtropical tropical biomes showed presence; this peculiarity which characterizes Sicilian flora. Delonix regia emerges as peculiar case, representing only documented cases open-air cultivation both entire country. significant percentage (41%) list alien Italy, showing strong predominance casual naturalized neophytes species.
