Soil
remediation

cadmium
(Cd)
toxicity
is
essential
successful
tobacco
cultivation
and
production.
Melatonin
application
can
relieve
heavy
metal
stress
promote
plant
growth;
however,
it
remains
somewhat
unclear
whether
melatonin
supplementation
remediate
the
effects
of
Cd
on
growth
development
seedlings.
Herein,
we
evaluated
effect
soil-applied
accumulation
in
seedlings,
as
well
responses
growth,
physiological
biochemical
parameters,
expression
stress-responsive
genes.
Our
results
demonstrate
that
mitigated
tobacco,
thus
promoted
growth.
It
increased
root
fresh
weight,
dry
shoot
weight
by
58.40%,
163.80%,
34.70%
84.09%,
respectively,
compared
to
control.
Physiological
analyses
also
showed
significant
differences
photosynthetic
rate
pigment
formation
among
treatments,
with
highest
improvements
recorded
application.
In
addition,
alleviated
Cd-induced
oxidative
damage
reducing
MDA
content
enhancing
activities
enzymatic
antioxidants
(CAT,
SOD,
POD
APX)
non-enzymatic
(GSH
AsA).
Moreover,
confocal
microscopic
imaging
confirmed
effectiveness
sustaining
cell
integrity
under
stress.
Scanning
Electron
Microscopy
(SEM)
observations
illustrated
alleviative
role
stomata
ultrastructural
features
toxicity.
