Abstract Microplastics (MPs) reach the soil environment through application of recycled water, biosolids, and compost in‐situ weathering plastic mulch used in agriculture. This review provides an overview sources MP input to their interactions with biota, thereby impacting biological health. MPs contain various chemical additives can be ingested by activity function. also serve as a vector for inorganic organic contaminants. These environmental contaminants released into porewater during impact biota. Overall, alter soil's physical properties habitat microorganisms. Soil microorganisms use carbon source porous proliferation. Future research needs focus on genomic functional diversity microbes impacted contamination, enabling us develop strategies mitigate impacts

Mulching is a widely adopted practice in vegetable cultivation globally. This technique employs various plastic materials, such as polyethylene (PE) film or polypropylene (PP) nonwoven fabric, with an increasing trend toward the use of biodegradable materials. Between 2014 and 2016, field experiments were conducted to evaluate performance small-fruited tomato Intrigo F1 cultivated using synthetic mulches. The trials, designed single-factor employing randomized block layout three replicates, assessed plant morphological traits, yield, biological value fruits. Weather conditions type mulch applied had pronounced influence on quality plants yield. Compared control, black, red, aluminum PE films brown PP resulted 7.2% increase height. All mulching treatments, except white film, increased lateral spread by average 24.2%. Plants red exhibited 26.4% leaf count respect control. Mulched treatments achieved 19.6% marketable highest fruit yield was recorded black fabric mulch. significant effect chemical composition Fruits foil most potassium, lycopene, polyphenols.
