The risk of accidents caused by ice adhesion on critical aircraft surfaces is a significant concern. To combat this, active protection systems (AIPS) are installed aircraft, which, while effective, also increase fuel consumption and add complexity to the systems. Replacing AIPS with Passive Ice Protection Systems (PIPS) or reducing energy could significantly decrease consumption. Superhydrophobic (SH) coatings have been developed reduce water adherence potential adhesion, commonly referred as icephobic coatings. question remains whether such cost associated provide durability performance through suitable tests. In this paper, we then review current knowledge superhydrophobic passive solutions be utilized alternatively in combination We can identify physical parameters, coating composition, structure, roughness, morphology, properties not neglected design development reliable maintenance.

Chemical instability of liquid-repellent surfaces is one the nontrivial hurdles that hinders their real-world applications. Herein, we propose create hydrophilic patterns on a superhydrophobic surface by taking advantage its chemical induced acid solution treatment. A Cu(OH)2 nanoneedle-covered Cu plate shows poor stability towards HCl (1.0 M) taken as an example. The results show 2.5 min exposure leads etching nanoneedles and partial removal self-assembled fluoroalkyl silane molecular layer, resulting in wettability transition from superhydrophobocity hydrophilicity, water contact angle decreases ~160° ~30°. Membrane technology has turned out to be a cornerstone in water treatment, providing advanced solutions that significantly enhance the efficiency of purification process. The conventional reverse osmosis processes have shortcomings like large volume rejects and fouling, which been addressed largely using membrane distillation (MD). ability MD treat wide array brines hypersaline sources, ranging from seawater industrial wastewater, made it leading desalination technology. This review explores role silane chemistry developing hydrophobic membranes, fundamental classification silanes, grafting intricacies, critical pretreatment procedures, techniques for functionalization. It further sheds light on methods evaluating hydrophobicity performance metrics, highlighting advantages stable flux, enhanced solute rejection, resistance fouling. paper particularly highlights emergence silanes as preferred agents enhancing exhibit anti-wetting properties, concluding with call research aimed at large-scale production these membranes global treatment.
