Chronic wounds, particularly those associated with conditions like diabetes, present significant challenges in healthcare due to prolonged healing and high susceptibility infections. This study investigates the development of injectable hydrogels composed genipin-crosslinked gelatin Kelulut honey (KH) as novel biomaterials for wound applications. Hydrogels were prepared varying concentrations (w/v) (9% 10%) KH (0.1% 0.5%), genipin (0.1%) acting a crosslinker. The physicochemical properties extensively evaluated, including swelling ratio, water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), contact angle, porosity, enzymatic degradation, surface roughness. results showed that incorporation significantly enhanced hydrogels, 9GE_0.1KH formulation demonstrating ratio 742.07 ± 89.61% compared 500% control 9GE formulation. WVTR values KH-incorporated ranged from 1670.60 236.87 g/m2h 2438.92 190.90 g/m2h, which within ideal range (1500–2500 g/m2h) healing. Contact angle measurements indicated improved hydrophilicity, showing 42.14° 7.52° 60° 11.66° 10GE Biodegradation rates slightly higher KH-modified (0.079 0.006 mg/h 9GE_0.1KH), but all remained acceptable limits. These findings suggest gelatin-KH offer promising scaffold potential applications tissue engineering three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting technologies.

The current state of the natural environment requires medical products, including dressings, to be manufactured in accordance with principles a sustainable economy. This assumption is perfectly met by dressings made renewable materials and additionally filled antiseptics. use such plant compounds consistent green chemistry. In this work, films based on Kuzu starch rooibos extract chili pepper oil were prepared tested. Starch foil silver nanoparticles without additives used as comparative material. chemical structures (ATR-FTIR) obtained, their thermal (DSC) mechanical properties (tensile strength, hardness), density, swelling, water vapor permeability, solubility, effects bacteria Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 Escherichia coli 25922 examined. film had lowest antimicrobial activity. At same time, it was most flexible characterized having best permeability absorption capacity. weakest mechanically speaking, but significantly inhibited growth at level similar that nanoparticles. preliminary tests carried out extracts from tea peppers indicate they may suitable for further research dressing materials.

New types of hydrogels based on linear poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and poly(ethyleneglycol) diacrylate (PHEMA-PEGDA) nettle extract were obtained. A solution poly(2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate) in monomer (S-PHEMA) was obtained by bulk photopolymerization. Common extractwas used as an ingredient that facilitates wound healing. The influence the photoinitiator content(1-[4-(2-hydroxymethyl)-phenyl]-2-hydroxy-2-methylpropanone) photopolymerization kinetics,as well equilibrium swelling ratio (ESR), thermal mechanical properties hydrogelswere examined. Complete HEMA conversion achieved at lowest dose. ReplacingHEMA with S-PHEMA causes increase ESR (24%) Tg (50°C) amorphous phase content. At same time, tensile strength Young’s modulus decrease. However, addition nettleextract (0.3 wt%) requires a significant amount (up to 2.5 wt%). As theconcentration system increases, decrease, but strengthand increase.
