The agri-food industry generates significant quantities of plant-based food waste from processing, which offers a valuable research opportunity aimed at minimizing and managing these wastes efficiently in support zero and/or circular economies. In order to achieve security, all can be valorized using downstream processes an integrated manner, results the conversion into secondary raw materials. Specifically, byproducts are recognized sources bioactive chemicals, including dietary fibers that beneficial as additives or functional ingredients meet technological requirements health-promoting value-added products. Additionally, cellulosic utilized directly within nonfood industries, such textiles, resulting reduction environmental impact materials, well increase market acceptance compared those currently on market. On this basis, present review was designed provide overview introducing novel concepts for effective reuse, recyclability, maximal utilization food-processing creates potential extraction fiber with applications industries.

Owing to the significant amounts produced each year, food waste is a critical issue that affects economy, society, and environment. An estimated US$ 1 trillion wasted annually because of supply chain harvesting processes, which lose around one-third net production. This loss has sparked global concern, there an urgent need for sustainable approaches reduce or propose economical route its utilization. Major concerns associated with improper management include environmental degradation exacerbation greenhouse gases. review provides comprehensive understanding recent advances in measures minimize (FW) chemical biotransformation into valuable products. Food comprises mainly carbohydrates, proteins, oils; former two components are commonly used as microbial feedstock, leaving behind residual oil fraction poses greater risk. Microbial transformation these hydrophobic materials present value-added products proves be strategy. Thus, this study proposes integrated biorefinery strategy holistic valorization FW, whereby all were produce compounds such biofuels, bioplastics, nutraceuticals, biomaterials using biocatalysis. Compared conventional methods, will more uplift processes by switching from 'pure' waste-derived substrates thereby pave ways achieve 'green' transition.
