Abstract Microwave‐assisted pyrolysis of PE to hydrogen and carbon material has great potential solve the problem waste induced white pollution provide a promising way produce energy. To increase yield, new microwave‐assisted procedure should be developed. In present study, facile double‐layer (DLMP) method is developed pyrolyze PE. Within this method, can converted hydrogen, multiwalled nanotubes with extremely high efficiency compared traditional methods. A yield 66.4 mmol g −1 achieved, which ≈93% upper limit theoretical generated from process. The mechanism during using DLMP also clarified in detail. paved for recycling plastic into high‐value‐added products.
