Nighttime Light (NTL) data provides a measure of socio-economic development and is publicly available on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud-based platform. The use GEE to analyze NTL has expanded, but trends remain unknown. In response, we provide systematic overview GEE-based studies from its inception. We searched Scholar database, which returned 359 articles, 73 were eligible. Results indicated NTL-GEE research evolved into urbanization, environmental, areas worldwide. Studies grew steadily since 2014 peaked in 2021. VIIRS-DNB widely used product due superior properties DMSP-OLS that followed, Luojia01-1 increasing, although not currently GEE. Almost two-thirds products was as primary dataset remaining auxiliary; along with daytime sensors. Overall, been success supported by many governments institutions.

Abstract Observing continuous strain in sea ice at geophysical scales of tens meters to kilometers requires displacement measurements made with millimeter-scale precision. Satellite-based interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) provides such precise relative surface over broad spatial areas regular intervals and, unlike point measurements, it allows confident delineation continuously deforming regions. However, InSAR only captures the 1-D component parallel a radar's lines-of-sight. Additional analysis is required translate between these observations and horizontal or vertical displacements they arose from. Previous studies utilize an iterative inverse model constrain estimates from InSAR. Here we build upon that work outlining new analytical modeling method for quantifying regions provide comparison results independent observations. We demonstrate both landfast drifting along Alaskan coastline. These intercomparisons highlight environments which inverted interferograms may be used as estimator strain, well potential outlined methods conjunction other observing methods.

Changes in the weather will cause variations hydrological system. Arid areas, with fragile systems, are very sensitive to changes weather, so coupling analysis of short-term and runoff arid areas is great significance. Under the joint influence of climate change and human production living activities on land sea, morphology use function coastline have undergone notable changes, triggering more significant environmental ecological effects. In this paper, we quantified evolution characteristics over past 30 years measured possible pollution degradation by means spatiotemporal coupling analysis in terms spatial form land-use function. The Chinese Bohai Rim region was taken as an example, Google Earth Engine applied to achieve a long time series interannually continuous classification coastal zone. study shows that: (1) from 1987–2020, showed overall trend seaward expansion, with length increasing 15.6%, most significantly 2003 2011; (2) proportion construction increased 14.66% 42.8%, while cropland decreased 52.01% 18.16% during 2000–2020, natural decreasing early stage recovering later stage, thus becoming stable overall; (3) 82.73% districts counties linear correlation between changes water quality level, 77.8% consistent degree loss land, indicating that triggered problems degradation. With exception localized areas such Yellow River Delta, where is somewhat influenced change, other are primarily due land-based development; therefore, policy constraints bring obvious mitigation.
