The occurrence of disasters has the potential to impede progress sustainable urban development. For instance, it result in significant human casualties and substantial economic repercussions. Sustainable cities, as outlined United Nations Development Goal 12, prioritize objective disaster risk reduction. According Gesi Smarter 2030, Internet Things (IoT) assumes a pivotal role context smart particularly domains including grids, waste management, transportation. Industry Foundation Classes (IFCs), as the most recognized data schema for Building Information Modeling (BIM), are increasingly combined with ontology to facilitate interoperability across whole lifecycle in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Facility Management (AEC/FM). This paper conducts a bibliometric analysis of 122 papers from perspective data, model, application summarize modes IFC integration (IFCOI). first analyzes models formats development IfcOWL model. Next, status is summed up objective phase dimensions, four frequent applications maturity identified. Based on aforementioned multi-dimensional analysis, three summarized, taking into account various requirements. This study explores the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Systems (GISs) to enhance sustainable energy efficiency flood resilience in residential buildings, with a case from Quetta, Pakistan. The research leverages BIM optimize performance through scenario-based consumption assessments, thermal efficiency, material properties, groundwater considerations, ensuring structural integrity against water infiltration. Enhanced insulation double-glazed windows reduced use by 11.78% 5.8%, respectively, monthly cost savings up 48.2%. GIS tools were employed for high-resolution risk analysis, utilizing Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) hydrological data simulate scenarios depths 2 m, identifying vulnerabilities estimating non-structural damage costs at PKR 250,000 (~10% total building costs). Groundwater also incorporated evaluate their impact on foundation stability, building’s surface subsurface challenges.
