Abstract Critical metals of environmental and economic relevance can be found within complex mixtures, such as mine tailings, electronic waste wastewater, at trace amounts. Specifically, gold is a critical metal that carries desired redox active properties in various applications, including modern electronics, medicine chemical catalysis. Here we report the structuring sub-micron Fe-BTC/PpPDA crystallites into larger 250 μ m or 500 granules for continuous packed bed experiments precision separation gold. The Structured highly crystalline porous with BET surface area 750 2 g −1 . Further, hybrid nanocomposite material maintains its selectivity ions over common inorganic interferents. approach reported prevents excessive pressure drop ensures stability time operation column. demonstrate concentrate least 42 wt% under dynamic flow operation. These findings highlight potential practical applications industry, particularly selective capture from mixtures.

The increasing demand for critical metals essential renewable energy technologies necessitates efficient and environmentally sustainable extraction methods. Ilmenite (FeTiO3) similar ore deposits serve as abundant sources of primary elements while also incorporating a suite strategically significant trace elements, including REEs Hf, among others. Mixer–settler units are extensively utilized in metal purification processes. It is important to develop approaches tracking the metal’s process online optimizing flow dynamics. One widely adopted technique evaluating dynamics various components residence time distribution (RTD) measurement, which provides insights into hydrodynamic behavior reactors. This study explored application radiotracer techniques monitoring solvent processes hydrometallurgy, focusing on Hf recovery. A mixer–settler system was employed using di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) extractant 1M HNO3 aqueous phase Ti ore. 181Hf synthesized via neutron activation introduced track RTD. Real-time revealed over 95% efficiency within 133 min (8000 s). RTD studies validated performance perfect mixers series axial dispersion models. calculated mean 100 (6000 s) closely aligned with theoretical 104 (6240 s), confirming model accuracy. findings demonstrate viability radiotracers extraction, offering real-time efficiency.

Kenya is an East African country with the third-largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa. The demand for metals and minerals continues to increase due urbanization, population rise, new infrastructure growth different countries. formally confirmed discovery of oil various April 2013, launching itself as a player Africa’s rapidly expanding extractive sector. This review paper highlights mining status role hydrometallurgical flotation processes recovery deficit from ores mine wastes. nation’s 2030 Vision anticipated benefit greatly proceeds sale oil, gas, valuable metals. Because was originally mapped agricultural region, less mineral prospecting done earlier times. country’s industry now dominated by manufacture non-metallic goods, it largely neglected minerals. One most serious problems production tailings that hold strategic material already ground, which means energy-consuming process has been applied, chemical engineering like leaching are more feasible at this point. Hydrometallurgical wastes, high low-grade ores, or essential. resources will be preserved, ensures sustainability industry.
