This exploratory study examines the challenges impacting urban farmers in Malaysia, especially those using hydroponic platforms on vertical farms, three states: Penang, Johor, and Sabah. We adopted a qualitative approach conducted semi-structured interviews with from states. Through our interviews, we found these are facing several government policies legislative controls, volatile market dynamics, financial constraints, operational limits environmental factors. is evident despite existence of subsidies, price regulations, other measures intended to protect local farmers. Purpose Sadaqah, a form of Islamic charity, was widely used to mitigate the adverse consequences COVID-19 pandemic on people’s socio-economic conditions and well-being. However, extent which Sadaqah served intended purpose remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims explore perceived effects situational poverty well-being tertiary education students in Malaysia during pandemic.
