Abstract Climate change affects peri-urban agricultural systems. However, most studies focused on impacts and urban agriculture. This study only investigated farming systems in West African Sahel cities. Globally, productivity improvement requires applying technologies resource access, particularly dry-season farming. The achievements of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developing countries rely utilising Climate-Smart Agriculture Technologies (CSAT) to address climate change, youth unemployment food insecurity. employed a mixed-method research design, employing field household surveys 142 smallholder farmers, key informants, desktop-based collecting data. results showed that biopesticides/crop pest management are the used CSAT ( p = .002). These eradicate pests disease outbreaks crops, vegetables farm animals. other included fertilizer micro dose, organic manure compost application, flood-tolerant improved varieties, irrigation based green energy, tele-irrigation, early maturing varieties planting pits. were ranked 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th 9th respectively, using mean weighted values. underpins local trends assessment, together with availability, opportunities implicit implications scaling up CSAT. also recommends including agriculture land use planning policy, programmes projects Niamey city.

Introduction The adoption of climate-smart agriculture practices (CSAPs) at the plot level is a promising yet underutilized strategy in Ethiopia, where subsistence farming predominates. This study investigates factors influencing intensity CSAPs on homesteads and identifies key barriers to their broader adoption. Methods Quantitative data were collected through household surveys. Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) analysis was employed examine relationship between independent variables farmers' decisions intensify CSAPs. Results findings reveal that slope gradient, extension contacts, experience, dependency ratio-induced labor, livestock diversity significantly impact enhance Major include insecure land tenure, poor management open grazing, labor-intensive practices, limited access agricultural inputs. Discussion To promote widespread implementation CSAPs, it imperative these are prioritized policies. Addressing essential for enhancing which will contribute sustainable development Ethiopia.

Abstract Striga hermonthica is the most devastating parasitic weed affecting productivity of cereal crops in Sub‐Saharan Africa. The key challenge for controlling this identifying optimal management strategies that simultaneously reduce infection while boosting crop productivity. This study aimed to evaluate potential role intercropping, vermicompost, and seedbed types on level S. infestation sorghum 2021 2022 years. treatments consisted three factors: (i) sowing methods (sole‐cropped (SS), intercropped with Babile‐1 (SB1), Babile‐2 (SB2) groundnut varieties); (ii) four levels vermicompost (0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 t/ha); (iii) two (open‐furrow tied‐ridge). results indicated pure‐stand open‐furrow planting without fertilizer had tallest height (60 cm), heaviest dry weight (39 g) as well highest Area under Number Progress Curve (ASNPC) (>1200) first year substantial reduction successive year. combination t/ha tied‐ridge, intercropping gave maximum panicle (151 g/plant), stover yield (14.21 t/ha), grain (6.01 t/ha) 2022. greatest observed at tied‐ridge SB2 was nearly times higher than plot application. treatment significantly suppresses improving attributes. Thus, it could food insecurity lowlands Ethiopia via productivity, resources use efficiency, soil health.
