Higher education institutions (HEIs), based on learning, innovation, and research, can support the progress of civil society. Many HEIs are implementing sustainability practices projects to counteract climate change, often involving youth participation. The present study aimed at identifying how sustainable communities may be fostered in a university setting. To that end, questionnaire was administered engineering students start end course energy issues, assessing their perceptions using multi-criteria decision analysis. results showed placed greater value course. Additionally, findings highlight implementation tackling real problems useful for disseminating knowledge practices. main implications this indicate academia lay six foundational pillars: education, (and resource) independence, subsidies green economy, initiatives reducing carbon footprint, community development, new professional opportunities.

Water quality has been a major problem in Pakistan owing to mix of factors such as population expansion, industrial units urban areas, and agricultural activities. The purpose this research is conduct comprehensive evaluation water monitoring assessment Pakistan. article begins by examining the sources (i.e., surface water, groundwater, rainwater). paper then discusses methods used researchers for assessment, including chemical, physical, biological methods. It determined that certain regions Pakistan, concentration arsenic present groundwater exceeds national international prescribed maximum limits. range concentrations Punjab province can vary from 10 200 μg/L, while higher up 1400 μg/L have recorded Sindh. In province, fluoride 0.5 30 mg/L, Sindh, levels reach 18 mg/L. addition, some talked about bacteria. A 2017 study found fecal coliform different cities surpassed limits were high 1100 CFU/100 mL. Additionally, natural geological formations salinity areas contribute contamination water. effect pollution on public health potential cause harm. critical investigate creative strategies improving quality, it necessary make investments development, which could include implementation sophisticated technologies conception new treatment processes. review performed facilitates an understanding current types magnitudes contaminants sources. Agri-food waste biomass (AWB) is consolidating as a relevant bioresource for supplying material products and energy in circular bioeconomy. However, its recovery sustainable processing present trade-offs that must be understood. The integration of multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) into life-cycle assessment (LCA) tools has emerged novel way to address this challenge. This paper aims conduct systematic literature review critically synthesize how MCDA been integrated LCA an framework helpful it AWB’s bioeconomy transition. shows the most studied AWBs are rice husk, sugarcane bagasse, household food waste. These processed through technologies composting, anaerobic digestion, pyrolysis applications such biofuels, bioenergy, soil amendment. Environmental (E-LCA) widely used tool, while both analytical hierarchy process (AHP) technique ordering preference by similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) applied techniques MCDA. current trend integrating does not fully cover phases, favoring solely impact phase indicating other phases overlooked. potential involvement stakeholders partially explored. Although there holistic sustainability assessments, social implications rarely considered. number MCDA/LCA studies expected increase, assessments at micro-, meso-, macro-scales become more articulated, results aligned with government company goals.

Abstract The plant Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertn. has been used in a preliminary study to investigate its phytoremediation potential moderately and heavily Cd-polluted Greek soils. For this purpose, pot experiment was carried out using four soil treatments, two from agricultural urban areas, contaminated with 3 30 mg of Cd per kg soil. modified Bureau Community Reference (BCR) fractionation method determine levels the fractions. water-soluble, available-DTPA extractable, total pseudo-total concentrations were also evaluated attempts find relationships between fractions parts cultivated plants made. Significant correlations among fractions, parts, physicochemical parameters obtained discussed. High translocation accumulation rates observed mainly root lower part stems, while flowers seeds no detected, leading conclusion that high-value product contained maintains quality is free contaminants. results are satisfactory indicating as promising for remediation practices Cd-contaminated Mediterranean soils, promoting principles circular economy.
