The Impact of Digital Transformation on Excessive Financialization in the Real Economy

The development of the real economy is cornerstone sustainable social development. However, affected by macroeconomic downturn and profit-seeking nature capital, profit margins enterprises have been squeezed, resulting in an increase hollowing out excessive financialization economy. Emerging technologies revitalized economy, making digital transformation a critical strategy for enterprise growth. Based on data from non-financial listed companies China’s A-share market 2010 to 2023, this study explores how mitigates over-financialization. results indicate that advanced can significantly curb companies. First, it reduces governance costs enhances information transparency, curbing management’s self-serving behavior thereby inhibiting financialization. Second, optimizes decision-making improves investment efficiency. Further analysis reveals these effects are more pronounced early-growth companies, firms with limited opportunities, those low external visibility. This research provides new perspective helps realize opportunities brought about technology.
