With the rapid development of data science, digital technology is integrating deeply with enterprise management, driving companies towards transformation to achieve sustainable development. However, a systematic and comprehensive process, posing challenges in accurately depicting firm-level digitalization. Hence, this study systematically reviews measurement methods for across various themes related Existing literature predominantly employs questionnaire analysis, quantitative statistics, text analysis gauge extent transformation. In terms indicator construction, existing mainly relies on input, outcome variables construct indicators. Nevertheless, due subjectivity questionnaires, uniqueness industry data, limitations textual information, these indicators derived from them possess distinct applicability scopes. Refining should hinge both research objectives characteristics data. Furthermore, through cases such as agriculture, manufacturing service industries, also reveals unique encountered by industries process transformation, provides more detailed summary specific emphasizes importance selecting according characteristics.

Policy synergy, the evidence-based coordination of public policies, can aid in more rapidly achieving air pollutant and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission reduction targets. Using logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) decomposition, coupling degree (CCD), geographically temporally weighted regression (GTWR) models, we analyzed characteristics, drivers, pathways residential pollution across 30 Chinese provinces from 2001 to 2020. The southern produced than northern provinces, with gap widening after 2015. In sector, energy factors (LMDI decomposition result, 686,681.9) population size (14,331) had greater impacts on emissions structure, intensity, synergies, or GDP per capita. GTWR analysis CCD mechanism indicated that hydroelectricity urbanization enhanced southeast. Meanwhile, west, was improved by R&D investment, government spending industrial control, electricity consumption, capita cropland, temperature, urbanization. This provides a valuable reference for optimizing strategies.

Digital transformation is a crucial engine empowering enterprises for green, low-carbon development and key pathway towards achieving China’s dual carbon goals. To investigate the carbon-emission reduction effects mechanisms of corporate digital transformation, panel data A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2021 were utilized empirically examine impact on emissions in this study, based dynamic capability resource-based theory. The results show that following: (1) demonstrates significant potential reducing emissions; (2) emission are primarily achieved through three enhancing green innovation capabilities, alleviating financing constraints, optimizing human capital structures; (3) effect reductions heterogeneity across enterprise characteristics geographical locations, with particularly notable impacts observed high-tech firms, state-owned enterprises, carbon-intensive industries, located eastern China. Therefore, we should vigorously promote process implement targeted policy measures support innovation, enhance accessibility, optimize structure. Simultaneously, develop differentiated account enterprise-specific characteristics, thereby maximizing effectiveness dual-carbon objectives.

The urgent global challenge of mitigating climate change has intensified the need to reduce carbon emissions. China significantly contributes greenhouse gas emissions, placing substantial pressure on its industrial sector shift toward a low-carbon economy. However, current efforts have not yet achieved adequate progress in emission reduction. Digital Transformation (DT), involving integration digital technologies into business operations, offers promising pathway for sustainable practices and reduction Chinese enterprises. This study investigates impact DT Carbon Emissions Intensity (CEI) using data from listed companies (2013–2022) explores moderating role Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) practices. Findings reveal that reduces CEI, with green technological innovation (GTI) acting as key intermediary. ESG moderates both direct relationship between CEI indirectly influences intermediary variables like GTI, further affecting CEI. Heterogeneity analysis shows effectively curbs capital- technology-intensive industries China’s eastern western regions, though is weaker elsewhere. recommends policymakers promote through targeted incentives, boost strengthen oversight disclosure. These measures can help enterprises leverage digitalization sustainability advance neutrality goals. insights also provide valuable recommendations other developing nations facing similar environmental challenges seeking development pathways.

Green development is key to promoting high-quality regional development. Chengdu Plain Economic Zone (CPEZ) stands as the primary area for Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle. This study constructed an evaluation system green level, selecting 33 indicators from three dimensions: environment, lifestyle, and economy. Through application of entropy-TOPSIS method, Pearson correlation analysis, geographic detector, level urban agglomeration 2013 2022 was evaluated, well coupling coordination relationship analyzed, driving mechanism affecting region explored. The results show that: (1) overall in research continues improve 2022, with average annual growth rate 5.11%. There spatial heterogeneity among cities. (2). coordinated degree (CCD) has steadily improved, however, still a low-level stage coupled Among them, Ziyang, Suining, Mianyang, Ya’an exceeded 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 respectively, entering (3). factors include GDP electricity consumption, per capita length water supply pipelines, percentage added value secondary tertiary industries GDP, resources, population density. differences these explain over 50% To promote CPEZ, policy recommendations are proposed: Firstly, optimize environmental governance. second encourage technology innovation circular third strengthen economy, allocation resource elements, enhance radiation effect agglomerations, drive integrated CPEZ.

Greening and digital transformation have become the new driving forces of China’s economic development. The environmental protection tax (EPT) represents a significant measure for in China, with primary objective safeguarding environment. Using 2012–2021 sample Shanghai Shenzhen A-share listed companies difference-in-differences (DID) method, we empirically investigate effect implementation EPT on green total factor productivity (GTFP) heavily polluting enterprises. results show increase firms’ GTFP after tax. A mechanism test reveals that has masking effect, which inhibits growth GTFP. Further analyses variations effects based ownership type, firm size, market concentration. positive is more pronounced state-owned enterprises, large those operating highly concentrated markets. This paper provides theoretical support empirical evidence development rational optimization policies, promotion sustainable
