Currently, the electrical supply in stand-alone systems is usually composed of renewable sources with fossil-fuel generators and battery storage. This study shows a novel model for metaheuristic–stochastic optimization (minimization net present cost, NPC) sizing energy management photovoltaic (PV)–wind–diesel hybrid pumped hydro storage (PHS)–battery systems. The implemented C++ programming language. To optimize operations—thus reducing PHS losses increasing lifetimes—optimal can power limits using or to store energy. probabilistic approach considers variability wind speed, irradiation, temperature, load, diesel fuel price inflation. variable efficiencies components advanced models degradation are considered. methodology was applied Graciosa Island (Portugal), showing that, compared current system, optimal system (with much higher PHS–battery storage) reduce NPC by half, life cycle emissions 14%, expand penetration 96%, reserve capacity shortage zero.

This work compares four control strategies for a photovoltaic-diesel generator-hybrid energy storage system, focusing on classical proportional-integral (PI) versus nonlinear super-twisting-sliding-mode-control (ST-SMC). The performance is evaluated using root mean square error (RMSE) and absolute (MAE) metrics. PI controller provides better DC-Bus voltage response under pulse conditions, achieving an RMSE of 2.48 MAE 0.61. In contrast, the ST-SMC excels in battery current tracking, with 27.13 7.10, leading to reductions 85% 81% compared PI. For supercapacitor control, shows 6.79 0.96, significantly outperforming PI's 139.62 24.88, resulting 95% 96%, respectively. Both controllers perform similarly load mismatch slightly at (0.07 vs. 0.08). Overall system power losses yield similar results both (RMSE ∼14.58, ∼9.33). Such reflect strength ST-SMC, regarding robustness precision, hence quite suitable high-precision challenges. Considering novelty outstanding improvements SCs, robust option that fits widely high stability reliability systems.

Abstract The rapid increase in renewable energy integration and electric vehicle (EV) adoption creates significant challenges for the stability efficiency of power distribution networks. This study addresses need optimized placement sizing Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCSs), photovoltaic (PV) systems, Distribution Static Compensators (DSTATCOMs) to enhance grid performance. motivation this work arises from fluctuating nature generation unpredictable demands EV charging, which strain existing infrastructure. To address these challenges, we propose a novel optimization framework that introduces Renewable Distributed Generation Hosting Factor (RDG-HF) (EV-HF) as key metrics. These metrics, combined with Hippopotamus Optimization Algorithm (HO), enable strategic planning within IEEE 69-bus system. Simulation results demonstrate integrated EVCSs, PVs, DSTATCOMs reduces losses by up 31.5% reactive 29.2%. An economic analysis further reveals payback periods ranging 2.7 10.4 years potential profits $1,052,365 over 25 years. findings highlight importance improving both technical performance long-term benefits

<p>Considering the problem of time scale differences among subsystems in integrated energy system a park, as well increasing complexity structure and number control variables, there may be deep reinforcement learning (DRL) "curse dimensionality" problem, which hinders further improvement economic benefits utilization efficiency park-level systems (PIES). This article proposes optimization algorithm for comprehensive PPO (Proximal Policy Optimization) industrial parks considering multiple scales management. First, PIES are divided into upper lower layers, first containing power thermal systems, second gas systems. The layers management models built based on PPO; then, both formulate schemes power, thermal, long (30 min) short (6 min). Through confirmatory comparative experiments, it is shown that proposed method can not only effectively overcome curse dimensionality DRL algorithms during training but also develop different plans differentiated scale, improving overall reducing carbon emissions.</p>
