Examining the interconnected dynamics of urbanization and climate change is crucial due to their implications for environmental, social, public health systems. This study provides a comprehensive analysis these in Peshawar Valley, rapidly urbanizing region Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, over 30-year period (1990–2020). A novel methodological framework integrating remote sensing, GIS techniques, Google Earth Engine (GEE) was developed analyze land use/land cover (LULC) changes, particularly expansion built-up environment, along with surface temperature (LST) heat index (HI). intricately links elements, providing unique perspective on environmental transformations occurring Valley. Unlike previous studies that focused individual aspects, this research offers holistic understanding complex interplay between urbanization, use dynamics, variations. Over three decades, expanded significantly, areas increasing from 6.35% 14.13%. The population surged 5.3 million 12.6 million, coupled significant increases registered vehicles (from 0.171 1.364 million) operational industries 327 1155). These transitions influenced air quality as evidenced by highest mean LST 30.30 °C maximum HI 55.48 °C, marking notable increase 50.54 °C. changes show strong positive correlations areas, size, vehicles, industrial activity. findings highlight urgent need adaptive strategies, interventions, sustainable practices mitigate impacts Sustainable urban development strategies mitigation measures are ensuring livable resilient future region. long-term robust foundation projections policy recommendations.
