Annually, the global plastic waste generation adds up to over 353 million tonnes, which is associated with substantial environmental and societal issues, such as microplastic pollution landfill management. Despite many attempts integrate sustainable circular economy strategies into industry, several challenges have resulted in material loss poor-quality recycled products. To address these challenges, this study proposes a traceability system overcome issue of flawed recycling plastic. The authors employed systematic literature review meta-analysis summarise current state industry. results revealed that blockchain technology most promising framework amongst various systems; however, its implementation hindered for three reasons.
