Assessing the water quality of surface bodies is one primary duties environmental authorities in charge management. Irrigation (IWQ) irrigation canals middle Nile delta, Egypt, was assessed by GIS-based research suitability indicators (risks connected with salinity, permeability, ion toxicity, and other factors on delicate crops), utilizing a thorough examination 27 samples gathered from surrounding Kitchener drain based thirteen chemical characteristics 2023. The maps this work were created ArcGIS version 10.7. A procedure known as Inverse Distance Weight (IDW) used to show variations concentrations different heavy metals offer geographic representation quality. We utilized principal component analysis (PCA) pinpoint potential sources metals. To assess soil contamination levels study area, various methods such (CFs), metal pollution index (HPI), ecological risks (ERI), load (PLI), modified degree (mCd) for seven targeted metals: As, Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn. findings showed that every sample had medium appropriateness rating IWQI values range 25.43 34.50. According indices, area suffering high mean HPI, ERI, PLI, MCd are 3570.26 ± 621.40, 804.62 164.88, 6.62 6.06, 5.10 0.89, respectively. PCA results revealed significant multiple enterprises showing they present simultaneously may have common source. This source could be an industrial discharge, agricultural runoff or process affects metals’ water. These give decision-makers important information managing resources encouraging sustainable management region. By educating local community about artificial groundwater recharge, rainwater collection, canal management, government can gradually lessen effects poor these areas. It also recommended develop risk module threats public health applications. ultimate goal incorporate descriptive sensitive into system generate quick reports policymakers decision-makers.

ABSTRACT In this study, surface water quality was assessed on the basis of irrigation indices and index (IWQI) via GIS. The study carried out analyses samples collected in August (dry) November (wet) 2023 from 12 designated points along Yıldız River Sivas. sodium adsorption ratio (SAR), Kelly (KI), percentage (Na%), permeability (PI), residual carbonate (RSC), magnesium hazard (MH) IWQI were calculated to determine classification quality. Additionally, Ca 2+ , Cl − Fe K + HCO 3 Mg Mn, Na pH SO 4 2− conducted samples. spatial distributions parameters mapped GIS, assessment performed according US Salinity Diagram standards. values ranged 401 61 during rainy season 42 67 dry season. season, two classified as ‘poor (MR: moderate restriction, IWQI: 55–70)’ nine ‘very poor (HR: high 40–55)’. three restriction)’ restriction)’. According Diagram, majority both seasons fell into categories C3S1 (high‐salinity hazard–low‐sodium hazard) C2S1 (medium‐salinity hazard), respectively. results highlight effectiveness these methodologies evaluating quality, assisting development informed management strategies for sustainable resource use agricultural environments. has proven be a good tool assessing area managing can help decision makers manage resources more effectively agriculture.
