Purpose This study examines the influence of financial self-efficacy (FSE) and facilitating conditions (FC), along with other variables, on use Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) credit services. The focus is understanding how these factors, including perceived usefulness (PU) social (SI), borrower intentions (BI) actual borrowing usage (USE) within BNPL domain. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative research approach was employed, using purposive sampling to gather data from 388 valid participants across India. were collected through an online survey, analysis performed Smart PLS 4 SPSS Hayes PROCESS Macro. Findings results reveal significant relationships between PU, SI, FC, FSE BI in context has a positive partially mediates relationship FC BI. On hand, had least impact BI, but it significantly influences slightly moderates USE. In addition, slight variations observed different age gender groups. Originality/value advances by identifying nonlinear threshold effect usage, challenging assumption linear behaviour relationship. It introduces as mediator emphasizing importance confidence decision-making. this redefines short-term service rather than merely payment tool, highlighting its inclusion regulatory implications.
