Single-gear-ratio plug-in hybrid vehicles (SRPHEVs) are favored by major manufacturers due to their excellent energy-saving potential, simple structure, ease of maintenance and control, great cost-saving the benefits vehicle lightweighting. Implementing an energy management strategy (EMS) is key realizing potential PHEVs. In this paper, based on a newly developed coaxial configuration, P1-P3 SRPHEV, with purpose reducing PHEV fuel consumption, advantages various methods were synthesized. An improved intelligent optimization algorithm, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) was used find optimal rule-based parameters. The PSO algorithm could be easily adjusted parameters obtains desired results quickly. Different long-distance speed profiles tested under real-world driving cycle (RDC) conditions validate savings. And flow analysis conducted further investigate reasons for optimization. show that plans in different can improve equivalent consumption conditions. Considering effect actual best case 2.98%, 2.37%. Through analysis, it found plan lies following principle: lowering parallel mode switching threshold increase usage time reduce fuel–mechanical–electrical transmission path loss, resulting increasing utilization whole vehicle.
