Greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon are exacerbating climate change and may pose risks to the future survival of humans other species on Earth. Therefore, measures alleviate pace have become increasingly urgent. Under this situation, sinks been put forward as one that can effectively reduce amount emissions. Shenzhen, a city at forefront China’s Reform Opening Policy, presents its set an example national Double Carbon Targets. study investigates changes causes in Shenzhen city, coastal southern China, between 1992 2015 using land use area multiplied by density index retrieved from past scholarship. The QGIS software method used research. possess advantages being open source, suitable for city-wide scale investigations, able visualise use/land cover (LULC). simulated InVEST model, based literature, is beneficial terms having high spatial resolution suited investigations. results demonstrate there has overall decrease 1.65*107 t 1.39*107 during 23 years, with main cause urbanisation cropland, (LULC) highest sink both (8.20*106 5.53*106 2015). already implemented ecological compensation programmes such constructing capture, utilisation, storage (CCUS) testing platforms, zero emission office parks schools, more highly efficient electric charging power stations. In order improve it suggested government could consider tailored strategies different scales involving stakeholders long, middle, short run, which include restoring partial cropland or implementing technology capacities LULC types.
