The degradation of pastures in tropical regions, particularly sandy soils, poses significant challenges to sustainable agricultural practices. Crop–livestock integration (CLI) systems have emerged as a promising strategy restore these degraded soils. This study evaluated the impact land-use transitions on soil health Western São Paulo, Brazil, focusing conversion from pasture (Urochloa brizantha) CLI with U. brizantha (CLI-u) and M. maximum (CLI-m). A comprehensive set chemicals (pH, phosphorus, potassium), physical (aggregate stability, bulk density), biological (β-glucosidase activity, organic carbon) indicators were assessed across four types: native vegetation (NV), (PA), CLI-u, CLI-m. Soil Management Assessment Framework (SMAF) was applied calculate Health Index (SHI) three depths (0–0.1 m, 0.1–0.2 0.2–0.3 m). At surface layer m), PA NV exhibited highest SHI values (0.65 0.63, respectively), while CLI-m showed lower (0.56). In subsurface (0.1–0.2 presented (0.66 0.67, whereas CLI-u had (0.52 0.58). deepest (0.2–0.3 comparable (0.56), recorded lowest (0.48). These results demonstrate that management practices significantly affect findings underscore potential systems, those incorporating maximum, enhance chemical agroecosystems. Further refinement strategies is essential optimize recovery ecosystems.
